In 2020, Celina received official designation as a Gigabit City from the Office of the Governor Greg Abbott. This means that every residence and business within the city has access to a minimum of 1 Gbps (Gigabit per second) up and down connectivity speed. Thanks to fiber optic lines, our open access network will have faster communication and internet speeds for consumers and commercial businesses alike. This fundamental aspect of infrastructure will help to educate youth, create jobs, promote public safety, improve citizens’ standards of living and deliver essential services.
The Texas Education Agency provides annual academic accountability ratings to public school districts, charters, and schools. These ratings, which range from A to F, are based on performance on state standardized tests, graduation rates, and post-education readiness outcomes. For multiple years in a row, the two school districts servicing Celina students - the Celina and Prosper Independent School Districts - have received A ratings.
Set on approximately 75 acres, the Collin College - Celina Campus provides greater access to higher education for northwestern Collin County. The campus facilities include classrooms, computer labs, science labs, and a workforce lab. To support students, the campus amenities also feature a library, tutoring center, career center, testing center, bookstore, and more!
